About

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alberta, joining the faculty in 2018. I study unsteady airfoil flows, vortex dynamics, and optical flow metrology, but I’m particularly interested applying insights from these fields to biological swimming and flying problems. Recently, this has allowed me to contribute to work in entomology and paleontology, in addition to traditional engineering work.

I am also the current President of the Alberta Aviation Museum, having previously served as a member-at-large of the Board of Directors from 2019-2022. During this time, I served on the Governance and Transition committees overseeing the major restructuring of the Museum operations and governance, guiding the museum out of a period of uncertainty into its present state of stability and sustainability.
